2018 French Tech Dubai UAE Award

Following the certification of the French Tech Hub Dubai - UAE by the French government in October 2016, this 2nd edition of the French Tech Dubai UAE Award by FBC is an excellent opportunity to highlight the vitality of the ecosystem and the French tech, digital and entrepreneurial community of Dubai.

This initiative is organized by the French Business Council Dubai with the support of the members of French Tech hub Dubai UAE, Business France, Bpifrance, French Embassy, Consulate General of France in Dubai and French Trade Advisors. KPMG is the partner of the award and guarantees its impartiality.

The start-up winner of the French Tech Dubai UAE Award by FBC 2018 will benefit from greater visibility. The award ceremony will take place during the FBC Gala Dinner on Thursday 19th April 2018. More than 1,000 guests gathering from FBC corporate members, their clients and partners, investors and also representatives of the French and local authorities (French Embassy, French Consulate, Dubai Chamber…) as well as business media will attend this event.

The winner will also benefit from the following advantages:

  • 1 year of FBC start-up membership for the period from 01/10/2018 to 30/09/2019
  • 2 seats for the FBC Gala Dinner organized on Thursday 19th April 2018
  • PR coverage within the local and business community
  • 2 business contacts introduction by FBC


17 January 2018 l Opening of applications. 

28 February 2018 l Closing date for the submission of applications.

8 March 2018 l Finalists list announced after review of all the applications by the FBC and KPMG auditors. 

22 March 2018 l The entrepreneurs of the shortlisted startups will participate in a pitching session, behind closed doors, that will be conducted in English. Each member of the jury (entrepreneur, investor, representative of local authorities...) carries out an in-depth evaluation of each application according to predefined and common criteria. 

29 March 2018 l Results of the jury - All the shortlisted start-ups are contacted by the FBC in order to be informed of the results.

Eligibility criteria

To enter the competition and before filling-up the below online form, the start-up must comply with the following criteria:

  • Be a start-up registered on the  "Pépites Tech" website - and attached to the French Tech Dubai-UAE Hub http://lespepitestech.com/french-tech-hub/duba-uae with at least one French member (founder, legal representative or member of the management) & an innovative service already launched on Dubai
  • Be a start-up with a trade license (mainland or Free Zone) valid in the UAE or have a partner based in the UAE (not being a subsidiary of a multinational)
  • Be a start-up created after 1st January 2011 in the UAE.
  • Excluding consulting, development, communication, digital, media agencies...
  • The 2017 shortlisted startups can participate still in this award subject to providing a motivation letter.
  • Please send to valerie.allardlatour@fbcdubai.com: Cumulative investments since the creation of your start-up: Financial investments (R & D, prototype, etc.) and human (contribution from founders, partners, investors, advisers, freelancers, developers, etc.)
  • If available, please submit (.pdf format) your financial results for the years 2016 and 2017 (they will remain confidential and for the use of the jury). They will have to resume:
    • Share of equity capital in 2016 and 2017
    • Turnover in 2016 and 2017 
    • Number of full-time equivalent employees at the end of the last accounting year 2016 and 2017
