In the name of the French Business Council and its Executive Committee, I would like to thank all our partners for their contribution to make the Symposium of last 19th March 2005 a great success. This event organized under the prestigious patronage of Mr. Obaid Al Tayer, President of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mr. Gilles de Robien, French Minister for Capital Works, Transportation, Regional Development, Tourism & Maritime Affairs, gathered more than 200 attendees at the Emirates Towers to follow the presentations and debates.

We now carry on with our activities and the pace does not slow down. Luncheons, with Property Investment this month, are organized on a monthly basis besides a breakfast seminary, with the return of Mission Total Regional Development and a very interesting presentation of Dubai Healthcare City.

Finally, I take his opportunity to announce our next prominent event, the FBC Annual Gala Diner, on 25th May 2005 in the beautiful settings of the Madinat Jumeira. More information will follow.

The French Business Council is pleased to welcome a “Business Development Officer” for the account of CCI Nancy, following the steps of the CCI Limoges a year ago.
Mr. Bontemps, together with his wife, will arrive in Dubai on April 10th and set up his office at the French Business Council. He will represent a pool of 8 small French companies, selected for their exportation potential.

THE FREE TRADE ZONE OPPORTUNITY - 6th March

Ravi Chitnis (PKF) and Younes Karim (RAK free zone)

Doing business in Dubai and the Northern Emirates: 35 FBC members and heads of foreign trade commissions attended the legal seminar co-presented by PANNEL KERR FORSTER (PKF) and the Ras Al Kaimah Free Zone, at a business breakfast organised at the Fairmont Dubai .

Ravi Chitnis, Managing Director of PKF gave a detailled presentation on the opportunities and challenges offered by the Free Zones of the Emirates, after a brief overview of the business environment in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

The Ras Al Khaimah Free Zone was promoted by Younes Karim, who emphasized the stategic location and range of facilities and services offered in the 3 parks “ of the zone (Business, Industrial, Technology). RAK free zone is also the first free zone to offer promotion services in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. See presentation

FRENCH EXPERTISE IN LARGE PROJECTS SYMPOSIUM

The symposium on “French Expertise in Large Projects” organised by the The French Business Council on Saturday,19th March 2005, under the high patronage of Mr. Gilles de Robien, French Minister of Capital Works, Transportation, Regional Development, Tourism & Maritime Affairs, and Mr. Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, President of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, proved to be a high-profile networking forum. The successful event gathered 200 participants, among them key-decision makers, government officials and a large number of professionals from France and the UAE.

The FBC members who attended the FBC cocktail on the 29th march received their personal privilèges card.
