On 1 November 2004, a grey executive limousine was finding its way in the heart of Al Quoz to visit Albanna Engineering. On board were Mr. Geoff Taylor, Chief Executive of Dubai Drydocks, Mr. Allan Locker, Technical Director and Mr. Steve Roderick, Quality Assurance Manager.

The reason for this early outing of Drydocks officials was to acknowledge and underscore a particular feature of Albanna Engineering.  Dubai Drydocks, in its momentous activities, has to deal with a large number of suppliers and sub-contractors who have to be selected and assessed for their possible contribution to Drydocks.  The rating system goes from one to five star, in a way similar to hotels rating.  Taken into consideration are factors such as active concern for the environment, safe working practices, rate of rework and reporting systems.

After conducting a number of suppliers’ assessments, Dubai Drydocks finally came across Albanna Engineering who passed all their reviews and appraisals with flying colours:  Albanna Engineering is the first – and thus far only – five star company in Dubai Drydocks books.

The management of Dubai Drydocks has issued a certificate to Albanna Engineering in recognition of their merits, and as an encouragement to others to emulate Albanna Engineering in professional life.
