The mutual commercial, economical and cultural relation between the UAE and France must be directed to support expansion because of the available opportunities in the two countries. Based on understanding and respect of their differences and concentrating on their similarities, this lays the pillars of a strong friendship.

Export Day

The Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bretagne organizes an Export Day Special Middle East on 10th June 2005. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Koweit and Egypt are sending their Trade Commissioners to present the business opportunities. France Crespin will be representing Dubai and the Northern Emirates, following the invitation of the CRCI Bretagne.

UCCIFE General Assembly

The General Assembly of UCCIFE will take place on 27th June 2005 in Paris. This annual meeting will be followed by a presentation delivered by Mr. Barry Delongchamps, Directeur des Francais de l’Etranger and by a luncheon with Mr. Thierry Breton, French Minister of Economy and Finance.

After the debates of the afternoon, Mrs Clara Gaymart, President AFII and Mr. Louis Michel Morris, Director General Ubifrance will address the 60 directors of French Chambers and Industry abroad expected to attend. France Crespin will represent the FBC at the event.

PRESENTATION ON THE AIRBUS A380 - 10th May 2005

100 guests took part in the special evening organised by the Canadian Business Council in the beautiful Al Yazi Auditorium at the Emirates Aviation College to introduce the impressive A 380.

After the promotional film of the A 380, the first speaker – Robert Lamoureux, Vice President, Procurement (Aircraft) of Emirates, explained the Airline’s choice for the super plane, and confirmed the massive order by Emirates for 45 A 380. A description of the key features and benefits of the airplane was given by Adam Brown, Vice President Customer Affairs Directorate, Airbus, while Suzanne Roy, Vice President of Programs for CAE, described the top- notch inflight simulators for the A 380. Rimzie Ismail,Manager, Marketing and Business Development, DCA ended the evening with an in-depth and exhausted presentation of the future developments projected by Dubai Airport to welcome the new plane and adapt to its size and passenger capacity, as well as the construction of a new gigantic airport in Jebel Ali.

The A 380 presentations by Airbus, CEA and Dubai Civil Aviation are available at the FBC office.

FBC GALA DINNER - 25th May 2005

The magnificent Johara Ballroom at Madinat Jumeirah was the perfect setting for the elegant Gala evening of the French Business Council of Dubai and the Northern Emirates. 320 FBC members and VIP guests were treated to a four course gourmet dinner, and to a dazzling light and juggling show, called Feeding the Fish. FBC DELEGATION TO RAS AL KHAIMAH for THE INVESTORS' CONFERENCE - 28th May

An FBC delegation composed of 28 people from various activity sectors, participated in the Conference among 350 guests last Saturday in RAK. H.E. Robert Jongeryck, Consul General of France in Dubai, was also present.
The World Bank and the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras al Khaimah sponsored an Investment Promotion conference last week on May 28-29, 2005. This was an opportunity for companies in banking and financing, for construction, building materials, port development, hotels, tourism, health care, and technology to learn about new projects, as well as hear about the improving investment and regulatory climate in the Emirate. A tour of development projects in RAK was organised on the 2nd day of the conference.
Guest speakers included H.H. Sheikh Saud Bin Quasr Al Quasimi, Crown Prince of RAK, H.H. Sheikha Lubna Al Quasimi, UAE Minister for Planning and Economy, Dr Mohammad Khalfan bin Khirbash, UAE Minister of State for Finance and Industry, and officials from the World Bank .
