The year is now in full swing, with an array of business
opportunities in the UAE and in the region for our business
community, as highlighted by our guest speakers from the French
Trade missions based in the neighboring countries during their
presentations (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran…) these past two months.
March has been declared “Construction Month” at the FBC (although it
is probably “construction month” all year round here in Dubai!), and
will offer you the opportunity to learn more about how an impressive
landmark such as “Burj Dubai”, supposedly the highest tower in the
world, comes out of the ground, and how a foreign company gets
awarded a project like this one. Site visits of new projects have
also been planned.
Finally, I am very happy to announce that the FBC 2006 Annual Gala
Dinner will take place on Wednesday 17th May, in the Al Yasat Grand
Ballroom, at the Al Murooj Rotana Hotel. Last year’s elegant gala
evening was a success, with 320 guests in the beautiful surroundings
of the Madinat Jumeirah and a captivating show from France.
This Gala dinner is a unique opportunity offered to companies to
reward their clients, partners and collaborators, by sharing with
them a refined and elegant “French Touch” evening. More information
will follow, but please book this date in you diary now if you want
to be part of this prestigious event.
I wish you an exciting month of March.

Since its
creation, the Recruitment service has grown every year,
placing more and more French and French-speaking
candidates in companies already established in the UAE
or in the process of setting up locally.
A year ago, the FBC service became the Consular Section
of Employment, and gained further professionalism.
Targets have been exceeded with a total of 115 job
offers handled in the last calendar year, and more than
40 job seekers placed. The growing success of the
recruitment service reflects the confidence that FBC
members and non-members place in the recruitment
service, and looks promising for the future.
This month in our Employment Service: 31 job offers - 62 new applications
The
growing expectations of the companies as well as an
increased demand for the service, both from companies
and candidates, mean that the existing structure will
have to be reinforced in the near future, in order to
continue delivering professional consulting to your
company. Therefore, as of 1stApril 2006, the following
terms will be implemented, in order to sustain the
development of the recruitment service :
Small
Companies (<5 people ): free of charge
