This month, we would like to draw your attention on the ever changing face of Dubai. Indeed, the year 2003 has not been less eventful than its predecessor with Dubai taking the lead in announcing major projects.Apart from the ongoing projects came announcement of many new ones, carrying on an economic boom. Work on the UAE's manmade project the Palm progressed to the extent that the island is now easily visible from the coast and is getting worldwide attention. Not forgetting the other 300 buildings under construction, the region is defying regional troubles and creating business opportunities for entrepreneurs from all over the world.
French companies are successfully taking part in each of the major projects being developed.
It is the mission of the FBC to support French interest and offer an efficient backing. We therefore kindly invite you to attend the conference entitled «Mega-Projects Shaping Dubai’s Developments» on Sunday 15th February.
On the long term, we are pleased to announce the creation of a new committee dedicated to Projects and Construction. Workshops are planned throughout 2004 in order to support initiatives and increase efficiency of participants.

It is with great pleasure that the FBC announces the signature, on february, of an partnership agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Limoges and Haute Vienne: from March onwards, a representative of the CCI, selected with the support of the FBC, shall have an office within the FBC, which is taking care of all the administrative support of this representative office.

This office shall represent a number of companies in the House Ware sector for which it will canvass the GCC markets. The FBC is very happy to have engineered and promoted this exemplary deal, which should become a benchmark for similar agreements in the future.

A new committee was formed in order to organize the FBC annual gala dinner. After its first meeting the committee took the ambitious decision to hold a prestigious evening for the French Business Council members which will reflect the image of the French Company members. This Gala Dinner will be held on the 31st of March 2004. (Details to be confirmed.)

The Employment Service primary focus is to provide a free assistance to the members of the FBC searching for candidates. The service offered does not compete with professional recruitment and HR firms and has no obligation of result.
This service has been successfully supporting our members who have been searching for candidates in various fields, and has provided a lot of support to job seekers.  Since its creation mid 2001 more than 40 candidates have been offered a position and more than 200 resumes have been received, screened and forwarded.

Visit of Ras Al Khaimah

On the 17th  and 18th of January, The French Business Group and the French Business Council were invited by the Government of Ras Al Khaimah to visit the fastest developing emirates in the UAE and to increase the links between Ras Al Khaimah and the French Business Community.  The delegation included around 20 french companies such as ADP.I, Maf Dalkia, Sogreah, Natexis, Accor, Total, etc. Full list
A presentation of the Free Zone and a question and answer forum was hosted by Mr. Oussama El Omari, Project Director General of RAK FTZ, who delighted participants with his diligent and enthusiastic answers to diverse questions from interested parties. Mr Oussama El Omari emphasised all the incentives and advantages to set up a business in RAK FTZ such as  the strategic location,   RAK offers swift and easy access to the neighbouring countries, RAK is the closest emirate to the main shipping route through  the Strait of Hormuz and all the northern markets, this access will be helped by  the development of Saqr Port and the RAK International Airport; the Free Zone is divided into 3 parts: The Business Park, The Industrial Park and The Technology Park by segregating business activities according to function, operational requirements and needs; the competitive price of the facilities and services; the individual relation with the administration and the quality of life in this human size city.

The Delegation visited H.H.Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, he offered to the French Companies the opportunity to introduce themselves, and encourage them to invest in Ras Al Khaimah , to take full advantage of the facilities and benefits of RAK. After the tour of the Free Zone's Business and Industrial Parks; Jazeera Port, Al Hamra Project and the new golf course, the delegation had the honour to be invited for lunch with H.H. Faisal bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Chairman of RAK FTZ.

French companies are already present in Ras Al Khaimah: Centaurus International, company specialised in beverages (soft drinks, wines and spirits),foodstuff, and garments and agent of  very well known companies as Boisset, Cellier des dauphins, Cfgv, etc.,  ADP.I, provider of complete Architecture and Engineering Services for Airports and large scale Public facilities and Cristal d'Arc.
