Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), organisers of GITEX 2004, the Middle East’s largest, most representative and eagerly anticipated IT trade exhibition announced that online pre-registration for trade visitors has commenced on July 15th at www.GITEX.com. The service is open for all IT trade professionals interested in the exhibition that will run at the DWTC Complex from October 3rd to 7th.

“The object of the computerised pre-registration process is to ease access to the increasingly popular event, and cut down on overcrowding at the registration desks during the event that can lead to bottlenecks and hold up visitor traffic,” said DWTC General, Manager Exhibitions, Leasing and Operations, Abdulla T. Qassem. “It worked extremely well last year during GITEX 2003, and we would encourage all trade visitors to take advantage of this option to make things easier for everyone concerned by eliminating the need for long queues and enabling fast-track entry,” Mr. Qassem added.

“GITEX over the years has evolved into the perfect business and technological platform for the IT industry making it an international brand renowned for stimulating regional and international trade and it always attracts a tremendous visitor response,” remarked Mr. Qassem.

Pre-registration is limited to trade professionals only. College and university students who wish to visit the exhibition must show valid identification and pay the applicable fees offline.

Online registration at GITEX is increasingly the norm and roughly 22,000 trade visitors pre-registered through the online service in 2003, almost double the number of those who chose to pre-register in 2002.

GITEX Dubai is the benchmark show for the IT industry in the Middle East and North Africa, and this year it is expected to feature the participation of more than 2,000 companies representing more than 60 countries. With a sound mix of local, regional and international IT product and service providers, the exhibition also serves as the key launch pad for new technologies and product launches in the region.

Last year’s edition of GITEX attracted 82,183 visitors in total, a 26% surge over the 2002 figures as the show broke all sorts of records in number of exhibitors, space taken up, number of international visitors, amount of product launches and business generated.

Meanwhile, GITEX Computer Shopper, the exhibition’s retail event which takes place at Airport Expo Dubai from October 2nd to 8th, will feature super deals on a wide selection of computer hardware, software, peripherals, telecommunication products and multi-media options.
