Dubai Expo 2020 will be held from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) around the theme "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future", with 3 sub-themes Sustainability, Opportunity and Mobility.

It will be the 1st World Exhibition organized in the MEASA region (Middle East, Africa and South Asia). It will also mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates (1971). The Dubai 2020 World Expo will bring together 180 countries. Around 25 million visitors are expected.

With the ambition of being a platform for sharing a sustainable vision of global development for present and future generations, the 2020 edition promises to arouse curiosities and surprise minds.

Pavilion France, with the specific theme “Light, Enlightenment”, will be located on the mobility area in front of the Emirati Pavilion designed by Norman Forster. It will bring the vision of France to the international level and will also be an exceptional showcase to strengthen the French presence on cultural, scientific and industrial matters.

About Pavilion France

Pavilion France, with the specific theme “Light, Enlightenment”, will be located on the mobility area in front of the Emirati Pavilion designed by Norman Forster. It will bring the vision of France to the international level and will also be an exceptional showcase to strengthen the French presence on cultural, scientific and industrial matters.

The French Pavilion aims to make an international event a vector of social cohesion and a strong time of expression of the nation as a brand. Today, new technologies offer the possibility of declining an event in time and space in order to be lived and shared by all and to become part of the collective memory.

Similar to the World Cup or Heritage Days, the Universal Exposition aims to become a collective gathering event uniting the French behind their Pavilion and its values: daring, the Art of Living and the Collective.

The editorial red thread of the Pavilion France will revolve around mobility and light, being part of the translation of a France carrying to Dubai an ambitious vision of new mobilities and connected territories, at the service of daring, the art of living and the collective.

The innovative projects promoted by the Pavilion France will reveal the ingenuity and expertise of the French economy in the digital transformation of urban services to create more sustainable and intelligent cities. The "smart city à la française" model will demonstrate its full relevance in conjunction with the major issues related to the deployment of territories connected in the 21st century.

During the six months of the Universal Exhibition, the editorial line of the Pavilion France will be structured around thematic, as many opportunities to promote French know-how in many fields related to the development challenges of the 21st century. Targeted themes - health, artificial intelligence, research, education, culture, science… - illustrate the problems of the world of tomorrow and demonstrate how France and its actors can respond to them in order to develop the conditions for a better world for future generations. A prominent personality, expert in his field, will bear each of the themes.

According to Erik Linquier, Commissioner General of the French Pavilion, “Dubai 2020 will provide France with the opportunity to express its vision on the ecological and solidarity transition in a relevant way, showing how climate and environmental solidarity at the international level, in the spirit of the One Planet Summit, can advance justice and collective well-being across connected territories and the smart city, with concrete solutions using digital as a key accelerator.
