Expo2020 Dubai, an exceptional event

This World Expo is the 1st edition organized in the MEASA region (Middle East, Africa and South Asia) and will also mark the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the United Arab Emirates (1971).

Its ambition is to be a launching pad for new visions of the world and the future based on innovation, knowledge sharing and sustainable development.

25 million visits are expected, 80% of which are general public visitors.

192 participating countries: never before have so many nations been represented.
4.38 km² of surface area, 10 times the surface area of the Vatican or 2 times the surface area of Monaco

The theme "Connecting Minds, Building the Future" is divided into three sub-themes: sustainability, mobility and opportunity, each materialized by a geographical space. The France Pavilion is located in the heart of the Mobility geographic wing.

France Pavillon at Expo2020 Dubai

To make France shine by promoting its innovations, talents and assets

The France Pavilion at the World Expo will be an unforgettable showcase for French excellence and know-how.

"We are now at the dawn of a new phase. The World Expo will be a great opportunity to open up new perspectives and launch new projects. "

Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic (Dubai Franco-Emirate Economic Forum, November 2017)

In Dubai, the Pavilion will also bear witness to France's commitment to building tomorrow's world through political, economic, cultural and social initiatives and actions. This commitment will be reflected in the France Pavilion's event program, which will be guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations.

"We want to offer an image of France that is optimistic, audacious and innovative, whose assets, ideas and talents contribute to innovation and human progress."

Erik Linquier, General Commissioner of France at the Dubai World Expo and President of Cofrex

The architecture of the France Pavilion: Lumière, Lumières

Light is the architectural theme of the France Pavilion, designed by the architectural firms L'Atelier du Prado, Celnikier and Grabli, and will take different forms throughout the visitor route to offer a unique experience.

At the heart of the project is a strong idea: to start the visitor's route from the esplanade of the France Pavilion so that the queue is lived as an experience in its own right, for a total immersion of visitors from their first steps on the Pavilion.

  • 21 meters high: the Pavilion is the 8th highest Pavilion of the Expo and offers a panoramic view of the World Expo site.
  • 2,500 m² of photovoltaic solar tiles are installed on the facade and roof of the France Pavilion by the French company Akuo.
  • 1,160 m² of gardens on the esplanade of the France Pavilion, designed as a place of relaxation for visitors

The construction of the France Pavilion is extremely virtuous because it respects the four main principles of bioclimatic architecture, taking up the challenge of building in the middle of the desert: integration into the territory, materials and construction site, energy savings and sobriety of use, and comfort and health.

Jessica Préalpato and Thomas Pesquet, the Ambassadors of the Pavilion

Jessica Préalpato, Pastry Chef of the Alain Ducasse restaurant, and Thomas Pesquet, French ESA astronaut, are the Godmother and Godfather of the France Pavilion. Now the faces of the Pavilion, this striking duo fully embodies the audacity and the French art of living, values carried by the Pavilion.

Their sponsorship will enable France to shine on the international stage.

The FBC, institutional partner of the France Pavilion

The World's Fair will be the biggest world event of 2021. This international gathering is therefore a unique opportunity for companies to bounce back economically, creating new prospects for development and accelerating the conquest of new markets.

Thus, the partnership between the FBC Dubai & Northern Emirates and the France Pavilion is obvious, and aims to mobilize French companies and actors around the France Pavilion before and during the Dubai World Expo.

"This partnership will allow us to develop synergies between our Chamber of Commerce and the France Pavilion to promote our country during the six months of the World Expo by mobilizing the actors present in the country (companies, institutional partners...) around common projects."

Geoffroy Bunetel, President of the French Business Council Dubai & Northern Emirates

"We are pleased to be able to count on the support of the French Business Council as a partner to contribute to France's influence in the region. »

Erik Linquier, General Commissioner of France at the Dubai World Expo and President of Cofrex

Throughout the day, under an intense sun, France organized several well-attended highlights such as La Patrouille de France, the choreography performed by the Ballet National de Marseille, and the GrimLove show.

Above the Expo site, the French PAF pilots were at work, performing their famous blue-white-red figures in a sky clouded by heat haze.

Visitors from all over the world enjoyed the show for a long time, taking pictures of this perfectly orchestrated show.

Many Emirati and French personalities were present on this occasion: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Her Excellency Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian, the Minister Delegate in charge of Foreign Trade and Attractiveness Franck Riester, the President of Cofrex Eric Linquier... as well as the presence of many French partners.
