Looking Back | Country conference : Update on the Middle East situation with a special focus on Iraq

In April, the FBC held a conference dedicated to the geopolitical and economic opportunities, as well as the business perspectives through the vision of a panel of Middle East experts and companies

We had the great pleasure to welcome as speakers, Mr Jacques de Lajugie, Head of the Economic Department for Middle East, and Mr Florentin Hyvert, Deputy head of the Economic Department at the French embassy in Iraq.

The oils situation in the area, the increasing political polarization between Iran and Israel, as well as the other geopolitical actors in the area were discussed.

After the required withdraw of international companies from Iran, the recovering Iraqi market still remains to take. Programs stopped in 2015 have resumed and around US$140 million business projects are on their way. The industry sector is one of the main ones to target.

Today Iraq represents a tremendous opportunity of development for those companies that are willing to settle, taking advantage of the skilled and trained local work force.
